Hole-in-One
Yesterday afternoon, playing in my league at Hilldale Golf Club in Hoffman Estates, IL, I had my first hole-in-one. Here is a description of the hole from the course web site:
” Hole 8 • 177 Yards • Par 3
Waiting for a breather hole? Keep waiting. No. 8 is a 177-yard, all-carry tee ball over a swale-fronted par-3 that plays a club longer than you think. A huge
crater-like bunker guards the front above a steep drop off. There’s OB close by on the left and another very tall poplar. ”The white tees were playing more like 135 yards and it was into the wind. I hit my “nuclear nine iron” and landed the ball about ten feet short of the hole and it rolled straight in, pausing very breifly to show off the Titleist logo before falling into the bottom of the jar. We will see if they send me my pewter hole-in-one bag tag or not.

Too Funny Not to Share
We have avoided this subject for too long. From FARK: The Anatomically correct Weiner doll. You have to pay extra for the weiner and the toy blackberry. The pic alone is worth the click.
When Ads Celebrated Soldiers and Sacrifice
This column really speaks to the disconnect of the last decade. You’ll see an acknowledgement now and again (American Airlines and Miller High life come to mind), but there was a sense of shared sacrifice that is completely absent today.
