WTF is wrong with her? I like the part where she spent her husbands retirement account and now his dream of retiring and traveling is “pretty much gone for him right now”… I hope he does not own a gun! Then again, I think this qualifies as justifiable homicide doesn’t it?

SWEET HOME, Ore. — An Oregon woman who is out $400,000 after falling for a well-known Internet scam says she wasn’t a sucker or an easy mark.

Janella Spears of Sweet Home says she simply became curious when she received an e-mail promising her $20.5 million if she would only help out a long-lost relative identified as J.B. Spears with a little money up front…

Spears, who is a nursing administrator and CPR teacher, said she mortgaged the house and took a lien out on the family car, and ran through her husband’s retirement account.

“The retirement he was dreaming of — cruising and going around and seeing America — is pretty much gone for him right now,” she said…

GAS WARS!!!

IN MY TOWN!!! How excellent. We have a new gas station that opened and they decided to say screw you to the two others accross the street and lowered the gas to $1.99 last week. I drove by today and it was $1.87. Besides the extra traffic from people outside of town and the initial long lines this is simple awesome. Who doesn’t love cheaper gas and competition when its in favor of the consumer.

JuggerFest – Texas Style

Met up with ZappaCrappa and his cohort, EricdaPackerfan, tonight in McKinney, TX. We killed a couple of pitchers (Sam Adams, Blue Moon and some fine Budweiser) and enjoyed some entertainment and watched the Cowboys beat the Redskins on Sunday Night Football. I took no pictures even though I had my camera in the rental vehicle. I was rooting for the Skins at a local bar full of Cowboy fans.

We were lucky to leave with our lives.

4444 MILES ON THE GTI LAST FRIDAY:

The GTI went 4444 miles as of Friday, November 14, 2008 and it happened just as I parked in the commuter lot. I would usually have a lot more on a car by then but I take the commuter bus and that saves about 20 miles a day. So far the car is performing great and there have been no issues other than being hit and run a month ago or so. It’s going to have the 5000 mile service next month…

Presidential candidate Alan Keyes, vice-presidential candidate Wiley S. Drake, and the Chairman of the American Independent Party, Markham Robinson, have filed suit in California Superior Court in Sacramento seeking to bar Secretary of State Debra Bowen from certifying to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger the names of Electors, and from transmitting to each presidential Elector a Certificate of Election, until documentary proof is produced and verified showing that Senator Obama is a “natural born” citizen of the United States, and does not hold citizenship of Indonesia, Kenya or Great Britain.

In addition, they have asked that the court issue a peremptory writ barring Senator Obama’s California Electors from signing the Certificate of Vote until such documentary proof is produced and verified.

This is the Miss Washington Diner in New Britain. Mariann and I usually go there for breakfast on the weekends. Today I was on my own as she had a meeting at work.


This was taken at about 1740hrs on the messy bar. This is my new Stag AR-15 Model 2T. Most excellent! I am glad to have it as it appears that the assault weapons bans may be revived in the early months of 2009…

…By Obama’s own admission, the Constitution remains an impediment to his dream. The Constitution, in Obama’s own words is fundamentally flawed: “I think we can say that the constitution reflected a enormous blind spot in this culture that carries on until this day and that the Framers had that same blind spot…”

Barack Obama complains that the Constitution is a “charter of negative liberties”. That’s because the Constitution was intended as a limiting document, to curtail the power of the federal government vis-a-vis the states and the individual. The founders intended at the time to limit the reach of the federal government, and built the Constitution accordingly. Government was structured so as not to limit the rights of the people, but to protect them.

Again, the mere hint of “redistribution” necessitates taking from one to give to another. It goes well beyond the bounds of simple socialism, and treads firmly in the territory of communism. “From each according to his abilities, and to each according to his needs”. (Karl Marx)

There is no question that Obama’s remarks were in the context of advocating socialism. To lament the failure of the judicial system in not being the vehicle to effect wealth redistribution coupled with identifying the “failures” of the Constitution in this regard reveals a candidate that blows past socialism. Obama is advocating unabashed Marxism.

There is a contemporary example of wealth redistribution we can all take a look at. Zimbabwe. The seizure of property owned by “white” citizens transferred to the “black” majority has, in 8 years, led to an inflation rate of over 1 trillion percent. The system of redistribution is, in and of itself, inherently corrupt. It breeds corruption. Zimbabwe has gone form one of the most stable economies in the world with the title “the breadbasket of Africa” to a ruined country dependent on UN food aid.
