I always find interesting stories from all over the world on the BBC that are not even touched on in American media, left or right leaning. Americans are too interested in who won American Idol or other network reality show or watching trials of assholes that don’t matter one hoot in hell… (Myself excluded as I refuse these shit shows and pseudo news events)

The answer is easy. Pull out one of our old battleships with huge 16″ guns (and many others) cruise right to the ports where the pirates hang and blast away until there is not one ship left. This is cheap and this is visually stunning and I’d love to be there. Imagine the poop that will come out of the pirates bottoms when they see this come in and start blasting!

Frank W. Buckles died early Sunday, sadly yet not unexpectedly at age 110, having achieved a singular feat of longevity that left him proud and a bit bemused.

Bibi Aisha, an 18-year-old woman from Oruzgan province in Afghanistan, fled back to her family home from her husband’s house, complaining of violent treatment. The Taliban arrived one night, demanding Bibi be handed over to face justice. After a Taliban commander pronounced his verdict, Bibi’s brother-in-law held her down and her husband sliced off her ears and then cut off her nose. Bibi was abandoned, but later rescued by aid workers and the U.S. military. After time in a women’s refuge in Kabul, she was taken to America, where she received counseling and reconstructive surgery. Bibi Aisha now lives in the United States. World Press Photo of the Year 2010, Jodi Bieber, South Africa, Institute for Artist Management/Goodman Gallery for Time magazine.
