Week in Review

CATAGORIES: WEEK IN REVIEW — FloridaBill @ 1:02 pm

File under Week 23 of 2009.

Memorial Day weekend was much enjoyed last weekend. We had some pretty fine weather and got in the pool. We watched Helio win #3 at Indy and The Blackhawks win one on Sal’s 60” in the garage and in his Underground Sports Museum. Unfortunately, the Blackhawks lost to the RedWings later in the week and are now out of the Stanley Cup Hunt (careful how you say that).

Memorial Day
Memorial Day 2009. Thank you to all who gave their all.

This week we have these Fucktards with which to deal:
Camilla Fields of Memphis, who threw her baby at a Walmart worker after being accused of shoplifting.
Samuel L. Davis chucked his wife off a bridge in Louisiana.
These two stripping idiots with rocks who played a bizarre an dangerous game.

We have a couple of anti-Fucktards this week as well:
Garrett Townsend rescued a 7 year old boy from a construction pit. Unfotunately, he died in the effort.
This Pizza man who stopped an abduction and rape in progress. I think it goes without saying that the abductor is a complete Fucktard for ordering a pizza whilst committing his crimes.
John Krahn and Scott Partenfelder, train wreck heroes.

Sonia Sotomayor was nominated by President Obama to be the next Supreme Court Justice. This may surprise some of you, but I like her.

These headlines just made me click:
Groom drinks too much, dies. Wait, you can drink too much?
White Tiger kills zookeeper while tourists watch. OMG

Nasal washer or crack pipe? You tell me…(click on the pic to learn the answer)

My son got vaulted to the Varsity team as a sophomore on his HS volleyball team this week and did an amazing job. His mother and I are very proud. They won the Regional Title the other night and tonight play for Sectionals. If they win there, they go to State! It has been very exciting.

Enjoy your freedoms and happy healthy weekends to all.

As far as Ms. Sotomayor goes I am so tired of bipartisan politics and that’s all it is anymore. The only reason Republican law makers don’t like her is because she was nominated by President Obama.

RE: Memorial Day. Had the privilege to witness Rolling Thunder as the bikers made the turn onto Memorial Bridge. Powerful bikes, strong expressions of support, very emotional. Great crowd. Many (who lost loved ones or served) biked down for the event, but did not ride in it (though they had previously). While the riders aren’t getting any younger, I hope and expect they be riding for many more years to come.

RE: Sotomayer, I like a lot of people. I don’t necessarily want them on the SC. Yes, politics is difficult, but it is the manner in which engage each other without having to resort to war. There are concerns expressed that she doesn’t look at the law, but rather the people in question. I don’t know if that is true. I would hope it is not. That’s not the role of a SC judge. If the law is flawed, that’s what we have Congress for. If the law is right, but it leads to a result she (or any judge) doesn’t “like,” its not the job of the SC justice to rule against the law. I was raised to believe in e plurbus unum. Under the law, I am no more or less of a citizen than anyone else and should receive equal treatment. I know that hasn’t always been the case in this country, but there is no excuse to follow any other path in 2009. The Republicans should ask tough questions regarding judicial philosophy and present their case in 2010/2012 that they are in tune (or not) with the general public. This may make some uncomfortable. So long as we have a democracy, I expect we will find public discourse to be difficult at times. I find personal attacks immature, but disagreement about policy and issues very adult.
