Yes, I am alive…

Hey gang. Hope everyone is doing better than me.

In case you haven’t hard, I was involved in a dramatic car crash on Saturday the 19th of July. I was driving into own to get some lunch and drop by the ATM on my way to the lake for the afternoon. On my way down the mountain I had a hypoglycemic blackout. I crossed across 3 lanes of traffic, cut a phone pole in half and smashed into the front of an empty restaurant. Live power lines fell over my car & they had to cut power to a chunk of town to pull me out. I got medevaced by helicopter to UAB hospital in Birmingham.

I have had my right hip rebuilt. The ball in my hip joint was smashed through the socket and back out agin. I also had to have a broken nose set.

So, my car is totaled, I can’t walk for the next 10 weeks & may lose my job. How is everyone else doing?

    Damn! I hope the healing and therapy go well. You need to get your mobility back. That is priority one. The job, well, the hell with them if they’ll fire you over that… You can get another but get your health back first.

    Very sorry to hear this. Man, sounds dramatic indeed.

    You have to look at the bright side though:

    - Fun helicopter ride
    - Get to meet new people (OK, so their mostly doctors and nurses…)
    - You caused a blackout in town (very rare opportunity!)
    - You got a new ball joint, now only your car will need one
    - You’ll get a new car
    - Your friends will buy you beer!
    - You had a good 18th of July
    - When you knocked out the telephone pole, you may have helped some guy by cutting off his whinning girlfriend on the phone

    That’s all I can think of for now, but I am sure there are more ‘bright sides’…

    Jorsa, keep your chin up and work hard at getting well.

    Hope you have a speedy recovery and drink LOTS of beer!

    :mrgreen: Thanks guys!

    Dry county, no beer. :sad:

    Whoa baby… hate when that happens.

    Is your organ donor card up to date… did they try to take your liver?

    Are you a diabetic?

    I had a diabetic patient pass out and head butt the sliding glass window in my reception area… to the tune of $100… I could have replaced it with non-safety glass for 30 bucks, but then I would risk decapitation with the next hypoglycemic.

    Seriously… if you need any advice/info from the Official Jugg Surgeon feel free to email or post.

    How will this new hip affect the kilt?

  5. Trench says:

    Praying for you.

    Dude! Ditto to all of the above. LOL at Yarbz comments. You did have a good July 18 I hope?

  7. Feste says:

    Your car has the markings of a Scottish Anarchist.

    Funny how the name “George” is the flickr page, while th cross is that of St. Andrew.

  8. jorsabeck says:

    Where do you think “Jorsa” comes from?

    Jorsa Beck, Scottish. Translated as “small door”.

    Jorsa = George

    Beck = Little

    “If it ain’t Scottish, it’s CRAP!”
