NEW VEHICLE FOR YARBZ:
Yarbz got this VW GTI MK IV with 31 miles on it Thursday afternoon. The sticker stated the EPA mileage estimate at 20 city 29 highway. I promptly tested out using selective hypermiling techniques and got 32 combined city, country, and highway. After broken in I can probably do even better! Of course, that’s with very patient driving which will only be done when I am patient…

And you are such a patient person, especially whilst driving. Hypermiler!

I hypermiled the wife’s 98 Passat and got around 29-30 mpg. Harder to do in the automatic transmission Honda minivan.

Nice ride dude. I test drove one of those, just for giggles, and it’s a sweet car.
Toyota already makes cars the do all the hypermile crap for you. They’re called hybrids.

But they don’t do the hyper-speed thing!
Actually, I think I can get about 35 combined if I work at it and its kinda funa and challenge… Still under 500 miles so I will have to wait for both speed and best mileage.

You might be surprised at how fast those hybrids are…I rented a Pius in LA and it was amazing. The gas gauge never moved and I put over 90 miles on it in a day or so.

The last car FB should have is a “Pius”…
My little GTI will do 0-60 in the high 6’s should I desire it to do so… I am VERY glad I didn’t have this car when I was a teenage or in my 20’s, or for that matter in my 30’s. I am also glad I didn’t have it when I was in my early 40’s!!!
Now I am so calm, cool and collected and never get crazy…

Also, this little GTI has just over 200 horses…
