What’s for lunch?
Today, I am going out for lunch to Chipotle for an armadillo burrito. We call them that because they are as big as an armadillo. What are you having for lunch?

Are they any good. there is a new chipotle in Hoover but have not tried. Well, I had a ham and cheese sandwich with homemade mustard. some salami and cheese curds with the same mustard, corn chips and salsa and two crunchy oatmeal cookies goobered with peanut butter.with an ice cold diet pepsi.

Homemade mustard? Sounds extra yummy knowing that YOU made it. I know how handy you are in a kitchen and you’ve never made anything I didn’t like. The entire lunch sounded real good. How does one make homemade mustard?
Chipotle is OK. For about $6 you get a burrito, made fresh with what you want on it (the Pork is really really good) and then all wrapped up in silver foil whether you eat there or take out. They got some Chipotle Tabasco sauce (the “smoky” kind) that is pretty good too and I like the steak burrito there just dripping withth e stuff. You can also get a burrito “bol” which is a burrito without the tortilla in a bowl kinda like a salad. They are good too. The one we go to here has an outdoor eating area and you don’t have to pay extra for eye candy.

Breaded chicken breast, gorgonzola cheese, roasted red peppers, balsamic vinegar on a poppy seed roll - it was today’s special at the Park Lane Deli here in scenic downtown Milford, CT. I threw in a bag of Sun Chips and a Diet Dr. Pepper for good measure.

Had a tossed salad with balsamic vinagrette dressing, half a breadstick and a big ‘ol unsweetened tea at Sal’s Italian Restaurant in Centerpoint, AL. Weirdsin gets the cheese curds from a little old lady at the flea market in Cullman. And yes, the homemade mustard is damn good. He got the recipe from me though.
Let me know if you want the recipe FB, and I’ll e-mail it to ya.

i tweaked the mustard recipe, but not much. i use splenda instead of sugar. Plus i use homemade infused vinegars to make it. good stuff no matter who makes it. i wanna try the Chipotle there is a new one by the Galleria. Are you ready Derf?

All sound pretty yummy. Sloel and Derfie each get a penalty point for using “balsamic” vinegar on their lunches. Sloel only gets a warning this time about “gorgonzola”. (The lunch cops are everywhere!)
I’d love the mustard recipe. Homemade infused vinegars trump balsamic everytime.
The only really good cheese curds come from Wisconsin.
Let me know what you think about Chipotle.

Whaaaaaaaat? Infused vinegar sounds way more girlie than balsamic!
And if I should get a penalty point for anything, it should be for the Diet Dr. Pepper! (wistful sigh) But dear God how I love the crisp, cold, refreshing goodness of the DDP.

It is not the girliness factor that matters, it is the simple use of the fancy word. If you just say “Vinegrette” (a fairly girlie word itself) it does the trick without using “balsamic” in front of it. Actually good balsamic vinegar is sort of like good Scotch. Aged for a long time and with a unique effect ont he palate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balsamic_vinegar
Oh never mind.
Dr. Pepper is good stuff. I used to drink it with Wild Turkey.

I was under the assumption tha “vinegrette” was a mixture of vinegar (not necessarily balsamic), oil and spices. My sandwich was doused in straight balsamic - which according to you is like drinking a “neat” Scotch, which we can all agree is a very manly thing to do.
It’s good to know Dr. Depper is an in-network physician in your HMO of deliciousness.

I agree that balsamic is good stuff and my lame attempt at playing lunch police failed miserably. I must admit to a liking for balsamic vinegar. Asparagus just wouldn’t be the smae wihtout it. It does change a vinegrette from blah to wow as well.
Dr. Pepper used to help me get very hungover.

All is forgiven.
Today I plan to have a chili dog and a beer for lunch so we can put this whole ugly episode behind us.

For me today, it is left over KFC (a couple of thighs and a leg and some cole slaw). Enjoy that Chili dog!

one of my infusions is Habanero , Cayenne and JalapeƱo and there is nothing sissy about it. the second and what the recipe calls for is tarragon. it could be sissy but when you add Coleman’s dried mustard to it. look out it bite’s
