The Pup-Pup
I know you’re all asking, “Who’s a good girl? Who’s a good girl?” The answer? Rosie!
We rescued this Lab/Terrier mix from almost certain euthanasia through a pet rescue agency here in Connecticut. She and her four siblings were left for dead in a dumpster behind a convenience store in Jackson, Tennessee. My daughter Lillian has been asking for a dog for years and we could no longer deny her the experience.
Any advice from other Juggie dog owners? This is our first beast.

I’m guessing the patience is for when the dog chews everything in sight and the bacon is to make my sandwiches taste more delicious?

The Feste family has long been pet deficient; my animal experience would be limited to removing groundhogs from under garage, roping 6 foot black racer snakes in the bushes, evicting skunks and abandoned ferrets sleeping in the garage, removing flying squirrels from the crawl space, trapping a multitude of mice, and photographing a family of black bear scratching around the fire pit in the Vermont Country Estate.
Can’t help with domesticated beasts.

If Puppy chews, buy appropriate puppy toys. Puppy and Child training would probably be a good thing, teach Puppy commands and Child how to give them.

Good job…we have 2 pound puppies that were bound for that great kennel in the beyond.
Advice? Patience…and no chocolate or onions : )

Geekess is providing solid advice. Both dog and humans need training AND patience.
Chew toys are a must, or the puppy/dog will find shoes and other things to chew. Good treats are a must as well.
Feste, you must post pics of the bears…and don’t forget your bells and pepper spray…

Rosie’s eyes are only blue while the camera is flashing. Normally they are black like shark eyes.
We have chew toys galore and always offer them as an alternative when she chews shoes, TV remotes, throw pillows, blankets, towels, napkins, newspapers, magazines, furniture, pantlegs, bathrobe drawstrings, and my daughter’s arm.

Do you have a crate for her? A nice place for her to play and chew innocently?

Yes - she is crate trained…and has so far spent every night in it with no whimpering or barking.
For the most part she’s a good pup-pup. But she is still a baby and often acts out and pushes the boundaries.
I’ve never been a dog owner - save for a few weeks when my parents “gave” us a dog that in short order went to live “on a farm.” I was hesitant to get a pet after owning a cat for 16 years. After it got so old it had to live “on a farm,” it was quite nice to be pet free for the last two years. But after we made the decision to get Rosie for my daughter Lily, we couldn’t be happier.
We really love that little pup-pup.
Okay - enough with this gay post.

Pet free can be nice, but there is nothing that can replace the love of a pet and the love that a pet can give.
She looks like a smart dog to me.
