It is also Al Gore’s birthday. Coincidence? I think not.

I bet Al is a Cubs fan… doesn’t he love to help with like the ENVIRONMENT and stuff???
March 31st, 2008 at 10:05 am
I think he invented the Environment.

I actually would like to see the Cubbies succeed, having suffered through the 86 year drought for the RedSox. For the record, I want the Sox as World Champs, but then would like to see the Cubbies.
FYI: following teams have never won the series:
Texas Rangers (George W. Bush’s former team; guess he runs government like he ran his baseball franchise)
Houston Astros (despite having steroid crazed dickhead (and former redsock Rocket Clemens) play for them in recent years, except when the yankees dish out obscene amounts of cashola)
Milwaukee Brewers
Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals ( a team from Quebec should stick to hockey)
San Diego Padres (too close to Tiajuana)
Seattle Mariners (kinda surprising, actually)
Colorado Rockies (almost last year, except they got swept)
Tampa Bay Devil Rays (no time soon; Did a Devil Ray just kill that boating woman last month?)

I think that was a spotted bat ray, but I am not certain.
Biggest surprises in the list above: San Diego, Seattle and Houston, but not in that order.
It is who didn’t win last year that I love the best: the Yankees.

As a lifelong ORIOLES fan, nothing pleases me more than watching the Red Sox AND Yankees take a World Series dirt nap.
ORANGE BIRDS! ORANGE BIRDS! ORANGE BIRDS!

Clearly the Cubbies are due.

I read an interesting article in the sunday Hartford Courant regarding the American League East and how the Sox and Skankees have had it locked up for some time. According to the article, Toronto may be stronger, Orioles will rebuild, and Tamba Bay just sucks.

Was it in ‘04 or ‘05 when the BoSox & the Cubbies were both in the playoffs? I was really hoping for a “Cursed’ Series… no matter who won a curse would be lifted!
How about the Orioles vs Cubs in the October Classic???
March 31st, 2008 at 10:40 am
I have stated above that I am for the Cubbies second, but then I guess I am for any American League East team (other than the Skankees) after the Cubbies. So that means Orioles are potentially my third choice for the World Series.
Two years ago I watched the Orioles beat the Sox at Fenway, and they took the lead in the East. That did not last long, however.

The O’s are annually in first place until early May then sink like a rock.
How they can edge out Botox Sox & The Skankees almost every year, but get consistently swept by Tampa Bay???

I hear Sports Illustrated picked the Cubs and The Tigers in the World Series this year. I would have to take that bet I think. I also think they may have forgotten a team or three in their calculations.
It is raining out and the Cubs will be lucky if they play today. Fukudome may have to wait another day.
I think it was ‘05 that the Cubs got in, but then choked in the first post season series.

I reread that article….. says Baltimore will suck this year, with Tampa Bay getting out of the cellar.
When did they drop “Devil” from “Devil Ray”. A friggin ray (without a “sting” or “devil” in front of it) is merely a boneless bottom feeder. Ohh.. I guess that name is accurate.
Hey…. wait a minute…. Tampa Bay is in first place in the American League East…. watchout!!!!

And the Cubs lose their first of many games this year, with a rain delayed, extra inning loss to the Brewers. Bleck. Mr. Fuckyoudome had a good day though. He is now an official Chicago Superstar.

I was reading predictions that the Cubs will take it all. Seems the Sox may suffer with injuries. We shall see.

Go Phillies.
