Rest in Peace
William F. Buckley, Jr., the polysyllabic prince of perspicacity, has passed. He was 82.
My favor WFB story (and there are many) had to do with him travelling off shore, outside the territorial waters of the US, so he could smoke pot and then comment on it from a personal usage perspective. He was a brilliant man and certainly had a vocabulary like no one else. He was also right about weed IMHO.
RIP dude.

Man, all the icons of my/our youth are not so slowly passing into the mysteries…
Le sigh…

Buckley was a very brilliant man. I will miss him. I don’t know how such a great debater will ever rest in peace though. I can imagine him debating with Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates right now. I hope Saint Peter doesn’t mind losing the debate and will allow Mr. Buckley entrance. They will probably argue the fact that Mr. Buckley died in his study. They may even debate Mr. Buckley’s opinion that he is not really dead, just dreaming! RIP indeed Mr. Buckley!

There is a nice tribute to him here. I too recall watching him with a dictionary in hand just to be ready for the inevitable rash of lofty words that he seemed to be able to use so frequently and eloquently to explain even the most simple or the most complex thoughts and ideas.

Great man who made a great difference in our lives (regardless of what side of the political aisle you reside if you reside on a side of a political isle). I highly recommend his Blackford Oaks series of novels starting with “Saving the Queen.” Better than Fleming.
From what I have read, he never rested until now. RIP WFB Jr.
