You decide…

Kadijah Farmer and her girlfriend were asked to leave a NY eatery becuase Ms. Farmer used the women’s restroom, but she looks like a man. You tell me, should this person use the women’s restroom? Should she prevail in her quest for big money? If you are on the jury, what say ye?

WTF!! What do people want next - a bathroom with a sign saying Gay and Lesbian on the front, next to the ones for Men and Women?

Wake up world. We are a diverse nation and diversity is what has made our country great.

Sure she looks like a man, but she has the parts of a woman (as far as I can tell reading between the lines). The restaurant should have looked at her ID, which she offered, then apologized for trying to make her use the men’s room. Shame on them so say I.

Stupid restaurant! Now they’re gonna get dicked!

  3. FloridaBill says:

So do you give her a big pile of money for her troubles?

  4. FloridaBill says:

PS: Shouldn’t you be on a plane to Spain in the rain?

  5. cj says:

Hell yes, give her a big pile of money. That was wrong. She was humiliated. They should pay.

When does the plane leave? What’s the flight number so we can track it’s departure and landing and know you are safe.

Don’t get drunk and try to open any doors on the plane either. You’ll be handcuffed and then possibly strangled. And all the time you just needed a hug.

    We depart at 1700hrs.

    That’s Wayne Brady.

And this happened in a Greenwich Village establishment? A place known for it’s alternative culture.
The place will probably end up getting boycotted and close, leaving no money for “her”.

  9. FloridaBill says:

CJ and Cin, what kind of money would you award her if you were on the jury? How much is this worth in your opinions? What is the value of one person’s humiliation?

I’ll give my two cents only after you tell me your evaluations…

  10. CinLin says:

Oh geeze, I dunno, certainly no more than $10,000, at the very highest. The bouncer should at least have checked the ID that was offered.
But I also think it’s a joke lawsuit, another customer complained. Since “the customer is always right” which customer do you side with? It a no win situation.

  11. cj says:

I might give her $5,000 and an apology. It was embarrassing to her, but not worth that much. I’ve been embarrassed before and never filed a lawsuit. Like the time toilet paper was stuck to my shoe when I came out of the bathroom. I should have sued the janitor for not sweeping properly, or the person who dropped the paper on the floor to begin with. Or the time we went to a mexican restaurant for my birthday and I was already a little overly intoxicated. It turned out the restaurant was having a birthday too and they sent a tamboreen player around giving out shots of tequila. I took the shot, the tamboreen played, and I fell out of my chair. I got the giggles so bad after that I couldn’t even eat. I should have sued the restaurant, but I didn’t. drats, my mistake.

KRAMER: So ah, what do you think Mr. Chiles.

    JACKIE: Jackie.

KRAMER: Jackie. I mean, we have a chance?

JACKIE: Do we have a chance? You get me one coffee drinker on that jury, you gonna walk outta there a rich man.

Shouldn’t an apology be enough? Yes, she was humiliated. Yes, the restaurant was insensitive. But seeking a monetary settlement is just plain juvenile! WTF lady? Have you not recently looked in the mirror? Do you not realize you looks like a young Desmond Tutu? Get over it! Life is full of moments of unpleasantness. Deal with it.

It’s sort of like the outcry over the General Betray-us ad and the Senatorial rebuke of Rush Limbaugh for his “fake soldiers” comment. When did we get to the point in this country where words have become as dangerous as sticks and stones?

    Puh-lease!

  15. FloridaBill says:

Excellent observations Sloel. Since when is it guaranteed that you won’t get your feelings hurt or be embarassed or humiliated? I think I missed something. This lady (if I may be so effing bold) is part of what is fucked up with America today. I am not talking about her sexual orientation or her chosen lifestyle, but if she was so mortified, why is this getting national press? Because it makes her case more valuable. I wouldn’t give her a plug nickle and would insist that she get some “get over it” training. I would kick her lawyer in the ass so hard he’d need a dentist to remove my boot.

    That’s what I think.

  16. sloel says:

    Bravo Bill!

And you’re right. If this was so traumatic, you’d think she would just want it to go away. Instead she holds a press conference and utters what seems to be prepared statements.

    F*ck her! (strap-on required)

  17. DaneBramage says:

Maybe all restaurants in the Village should provide lipstick at the door….

  18. sloel says:

Bad idea DB! That would expose the restaurant to more litigation. See link:
