Do either Yarbzseses hablas espanol?
Un poco, eh, pequeno. Están poniendo un neumático para aprender poco más antes de irse, pero todos lo que él realmente necesita saber deben decir “donde está la cerveza?” cuál cualquier estudiante español del estudiante de primer año sabe de memoria.
Did you do that without using an online translator?
No
I was going to have to start calling you Bi-Lingual Bill.
Since I learned to speak Spanish at UAB, you have to be from very southern Spain or Mexico to understand my Southern accent.
I’ve been told I speak French with a British accent so go figure.
My Spanish is not at all good. I had hoped to learn before I left but it didn’t work out that way. I will get by though with phrase book and a smile. If that fails, I will just steal what I need.
We shall go to Gibraltar and drink heavily in a British Pub too.
We must know more oh travelling BlogDude.
I know that you have a short layover in Amsterdam (too short to enjoy) and then you head to Toledo (Spain, not Ohio) rent a car, and then will roam the Spanish wilderness searching for pubs and tavernistas that are off the beaten path and interesting; stealing as you go to survive. I expect you to dine marvelously on paella, chorizo and jamon and that you will provide a bounty of photographic evidence of your culinary conquests.
I hear there may be a book?!?!?!
A book indeed! I will actually begin shooting when we pack Wednesday evening. I will shoot lots of food and beer and people.
We will arrive in Madrid about 11 AM on the 12th. We’ll then take a ‘tren’ to Toledo where we’ll stay and the Maria Cristina hotel. the next day we are supposed to get the rental car and head out to the hills and do back roads to wherever we deem interesting. We’re initially planning to heading to Salamanca but if we decide to turn and go somewhere else along the way, we have the freedon to do it.
Our plan to go across the puddle to Morocco is cancelled. We read too many stories saying that unless you’re goig to have time to see cities other that Tangiers, skip it. It’s like tijuana and the tourists get hit up for cash all the time. I think we’ll stay in Gibraltar instead and go to the top of the rock and just look at Morocca.
We hope to visit Seville for several days. If we’re gettin’ what we want, we’ll stay, if not we’lll move on. I want to do as much local off the beaten track live music as possible. I will have to learn Spanish for “May I take your photograph?” or “Do you mind if I take photographs?”…
I hope it all goes well. We will hopefully drink lots of wine right out of the casks.
“¿Puedo tomar su fotografía?” = May I take your picture?
If they answer “No, usted bastardo americano ignorante, puedo matarle apenas para pedir” You and the Mrs. Should run and scream for the Policia (it means “no, you ignorant American bastard, I should kill you just for asking”).
In all honesty, have a great time, be safe and have as much fun as possible without getting in trouble.
I am truly jealous.
I would simply state to them: “no me haga le pateo en su pene y testículos diminutos” (Don’t make me kick you in your tiny penis and testicles.)
WOW!
Have a GREAT time!
Gracias senorita!
Yeah, have a great time picking your teeth out from the back of your throat should you decide to use that line.
If you go see a bullfight, remember, sometimes, it is not the bull that loses and try to avoid the “huevos de las dio” as they may not be bull testes…if they are “testiculos diminutos”, they likely belonged to El Matador or one of his buddies.
The bull fights are over. We probably woulda gone to one but we get a pass on that one. They end in early September.
Then DEFINATELY avoid the huevos at all costs. I understand they get old after a day or two.
I want a pic of you on Gilbralter looking at Morroco in a state of clear, manifest inebriation.
If it’s like Tijuana does that mean they have donkey shows?
Well I’ve never been to Spaaaaaainnnn, but I kinda like the music. Say the ladies are insane there…. Whaaaa I’ve got an ear worm!!
Have a blast and stay safe!
